My friend Lakshmi- lockdown story

MY FRIEND LAKSHMI

Minister Narendra Modi  urged people across India to switch off their lights and hold candles, lamps and mobile flashlights at 9 pm on Sunday, April 5, for 9 minutes in a nationwide show of solidarity, to fight the darkness of coronavirus.

As the clock struck 9 pm, lights went out in most houses and we gathered in our respective balconies, flashing mobile lights while a few of them lit candles and diyas  .On the second floor of c-Block,I could see a face much brighter than the diya in her hands . It was Lakshmi, my friend.
Lakshmi was working in a real estate firm. She left her job when  her daughter was born.Sometimes, she used to get "bored" just running a home .  She always wanted to contribute to the earnings of her family. I remember ,once she told me that "I 'd be proud to teach English in any reputed school and my family would be proud of me too ".

Luckily , she had no health issue also . So , when her baby turned one year, she got herself enrolled for B.ed. She started to hire a baby sitter for 4 days a week so that she can study on-line . She loved that change .during the rest of the week, little things that would've bothered her around the house ,stopped bothering . She had something else now, to think about  ,to freshen up her mind .
Lakshmi is about to finish her B.ed. and I am very sure that she would get a good job very soon . After all ,she had started her journey to achieve what she wanted in her life .
